I think they've known the entire time it was a lost cause, that's why they had Biden win. I said in 2016 that it was an election for both terms, because there was never any chance he'd win 2016 and then somehow lose. His support base grows daily and never decreases.
They know the riots help Trump. His odds keep increasing. They know they can't even cheat enough for it to matter, he's going to take the popular vote by a huge margin and virtually every state.
My theory:
They know they will lose a fair election. For every reason you mention and more.
The intent now is to 1) steal the election if possible and meanwhile 2) make it impossible for Trump to govern. They'll continue 2) if they don't manage to pull off 1).

Two times they shot at cops and kept them from helping the fire department be safe and put it out. On top of that tjmaxx sits an apartment building with over 350 residents of all types. The news kept this quiet.

The communists have adapted their tactics: make a show to threaten a federal property, ensuring that the bulk of the PD and NG mass around that property leaving the rest of the city unpatrolled, while they dispatch (literal) fire teams across the area to attack.
