First of all, thank you everyone for providing a sane refuge from the craziness in the world these past few months. Today, my father is struggling with COVID & viral pneumonia. The doctors want to try the convalescent blood plasma treatment...what do you guys think?

4 years ago, if you told me I'd be trusting a random collection of internet strangers over a group of doctors I would have laughed in the most condescending (liberal) way, but these are the times in which we live.

Is hydroxychloriquine/zinc and zpack not an option?

Unfortunately even if it were, he thinks my advocacy for it is just me being 'a Trump fan boy'. He bought into the media smear campaign

Very sorry to hear that. If the doctors recommend it, maybe he would reconsider. But if they don’t believe either, than, I would consider the plasma. Also, inhaled steroids with antibiotic and Ivermectin are other possible treatments to discuss with the doctors.

Or high-dose IV vitamin C? Like 5 - 10 grams at a time.

Zinc is apparently a key treatment, prevents the virus from reproducing. "Zinc ionophores" like HCQ, quercitin, transport the zinc into cells where it's used.

Ask the doctors if they'd mind taping a statement for social media, if they disagree with HCQ/zinc treatment?

Plasma is essentially blood without blood cells. Whatever is in there is in there. If he doesn't have any heart problems, maybe try quercetin/quinine and a breakfast shake mix that has zinc in it before deciding on rolling the dice on plasma.

Here’s an excerpt from the announcement on the emergency approval for plasma treatment Trump made on Sunday.

“Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said that more than 70,000 patients have been treated in studies of convalescent plasma for COVID-19 and the treatment has been used in response to MERS and SARS as well as the flue and Ebola.

Azar said there has been a 35% increase in survival through the treatment in patients under 80 who were not on artificial respiration.

"The data that we gathered suggested patients who were treated early in their disease course, within three days of being diagnosed, with plasma containing high levels of antibodies benefitted the most from treatment," he said.”

Early treatment, within 3 days of diagnosis and plasma with high levels of antibodies seem to be best case scenario.

I am not a doctor, just a news junkie. I have read that steroids help people with the lung issues. Also, Dr. Marc Siegel on Fox News attributes Hydroxychloroquine with saving his 96 yr old father's life. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.foxnews.com/health/dr-marc-siegel-opens-up-about-his-father-96-and-his-use-of-hydroxychloroquine.amp

If he is early in the disease process. How old is he? He may just have pneumonia due to the false positives.
