China owns 1.1 trillion in us debt. I say on that action alone they have forgiven that debt for us. Chinese nationals own an additional half a trillion in private holdings. We should forgive those too.

Fuck around and find out China. You cost the world economy more than 10 trillion, you lose

Would be more impactful to cut off trade altogether. Stuck giving Communists money.

There needs to be alternatives before trade is cut off. Right now I import a lot from China, because I have no choice. Contract manufacturing barely exists in the U.S. if at all.

Manufacturing requires massive investment, and unless their are incentives. Buyers will always go for the low cost option, so people are not going to invest in it, if China can undercut them by subsidizing their manufacturing and manipulating the currency

In order for manufacturing to grow in the U.S., it needs the government to support and protect it, at least in the beginning.

In the meantime, the U.S. gvt is collecting a shit ton of money from the tarrifs, On the stuff I import, the government is probably making more money than the manufacturer

We would also see crazy inflation on that basket of WalMart Amazon items. While I don’t mind if they both went under, that alone would turn people on potus.

I don't think that is necessarily the case, particularly now that the tariffs have been in place. The items I buy are not particularly labor intensive, what they do require is expensive machinery and a local supply chain to produce.

I think it could be produced here, if the infrastructure existed, for the same price if not less once tariffs and shipping is taken into the equation. The problem is right now, the infrastructure does not exist here.

A lot of countries do a lot to support their manufacturers, China does it to the extreme with subsidies and currency manipulation, but South Korea and India have programs that help their manufacturers within the constraints of fair trade laws.

If the U.S> wants to be serious about bringing back manufacturing, the government needs to step up. Small business owners can't compete against foreign governments on their own

Can confirm. China's young men are pissed. Mostly because in my generation there are 30 million more men than women. That generation knows that at least 30 million of them will not be able to find wives, and they KNOW the CCP is responsible for that with the 1 child policy.
