It really varies depending on where in Iowa you live. Overall it's pretty good. The cities tend to be more where the unhinged liberals are, but it never really gets too crazy. I live in a rural town of about 6,000 people. Don't be fooled, Iowa isn't as boring a place as some make it out to be.
Des Moines and Ames are pretty good. Lived in Ames for a few years while I was in college, pretty standard college town and there's lots of fun to be had there. I have several friends and family in the Des Moines metro area. It's a bit more liberal there but never gets out of hand. Iowa City/Cedar Rapids to my understanding has more riff raff because the University of Iowa is a way more liberal college than Iowa State and is closer to Illinois. I don't really go to council bluffs ever so I'm not too sure what it's like around there. You planning on moving here?

IOWA.WIN gives me a freedom boner!
