We got the U.P. as appeasement from the Federal Government because we threatened war with Ohio over possession of Toledo. I think we got the better end of that deal. ;)
That being said I doubt many Michiganders are keen to give it up. The U.P. is awesome. Insanely beautiful place.
Thought of making Upper Peninsula its own state? Always find the shape of Michigan odd with 2 peninsulas and forgetting about Upper
