My younger sister fell off a bunk bed and hit her head. My family is really worried. She's on her way to the hospital right now. Please pray that everything is alright for her. Thank you.

Healing thoughts and prayers sent to your younger sister and your family.

I've known three kids who have fallen off the top bunk. One received a concession but quickly recovered. The other two had headaches and goose eggs on their heads. They were a little sore for a few days but no ill effects.

So hopefully, the damage is limited to a bump on her head (she will have that) and a headache but be feeling fine ASAP.

Thanks, it means a lot to me that people pray for me when they don't even know me. I hope she ends up with a similar situation as the three kids you know but she's only 1 year old so I'm worried a fall from a such a height is really dangerous.

That is a high fall, but trust me, babies, like ninjas, bounce. Those little bundles of raw energy take so many bumps and bruises and just keep going.

If it makes you feel any better, my 1 year old daughter fell backwards down the stairs about 6 months ago. We watched in horror as she slid and tumbled down from the top floor all the way to the bottom only to hit the hardwood on her butt then flop back smack on her head.

She was stunned for a minute, then cried for about 5 minutes, and was up and running around again after that. I think it hurt my wife and me more than it did her. We kept an eye on her for a concussion, and made sure her pupils weren't dilated. We made the mistake of reading online and saw all kinds of horror stories. Just know most of those are the exception and not the rule.

It's also worth noting babies that young are mostly cartilage with not a whole lot of bone, so they don't tend to break things that young. I think God knew they would be prone to self-inflicted injury when they are that small.

Either way, prayers to your family, pede. I'm sure it will be okay. Just breathe and say some prayers.

The kids I knew were from 4 to around 7.

A one year old falling off the top bunk has a 26% chance of being hurt; older children have a 25% chance of being hurt. So no real statistical difference.

It somewhat corresponds to the injuries suffered by the three children I knew who fell from the top bunk. One (33%) had a concession and the other two were a little banged up.

It also would depend on the floor surface. From what I recall about the children who fell off the top bunk, the floor was hardwood in two cases and linoleum over concrete in the third.

All quite hard surfaces. So if there was carpeting, vinyl with padding, or even a Pergo type flooring, it would appear to lessen the chance of injury.

Anyway, another prayer said for your little sister, you, and the rest of your family.

Prayers up for your sister🙏🏻 My son was jumping on our bed when he was about 2 and fell, hitting his head on a bedside table on his way down. Cried for awhile and we took him to urgent care in case he needed stitches where his head had been cut. He was pretty much fine the next day. A couple years later he was sledding and ran into a tree and hit his head. Had a goose egg and headache but no concussion and fine in a couple days except for the lump..the kid has a head of steel...lol

Done. The Lord listens to me because I save turtles on the road. Sis will be fine. I once fell out of my bunk bed onto a hardwood floor in the middle of the night and no one heard me moaning. It hurt so bad I just slept there the rest of the night. Dad installed a guardrail he overlooked the next day. 😉

Can’t say it often enough for head injuries. Coconut oil. In her food, massaged into her skin. Prayers with you and yours.
