First of all, wow my phone tried to autocorrect “gun” to “fun”.

Secondly, my state has a “stand your ground” law, but requires that you not “use excessive force” unless you can prove your life was in danger.

I saw a video tonight of a mob approaching/surrounding a guy with a gun, and they didn’t touch him, though at any moment they could’ve jumped him and beaten/killed him. Would responding with lethal force be justified in that situation?

Excessive force tends to be a sliding scale depending on the situation.

Mag dump into a lone perp? Probably excessive.

Mag dump because you're surrounded by an angry murderous mob? Not so much.
