From my perspective of ignorance on this, it seems a bit stupid that he pulled his gun then tried to run up to the guy with the rifle to shoot him.
I suggested this as well. The skater guy runs up first to a snatch his rifle. I believe this 1 arm guy was under the impression it was taken and he couldn't see very well. He was in possession of a gun that was likely empty.
I wonder if he was carrying an empty weapon.

you are correct. making accurate center of mass shots at 7 yards is easy, trying to run up on him was stupid
AR-15 dude was lucky his assailants were all retards and/or worthless pussies, otherwise he definitely could have lost.
