Gather round my Pedes for a tale of classic statist interference with our right to keep and bear arms for our own protection.

So I applied for a New Jersey Firearms ID (FID) on 5/31/2020 right after Trenton had a peaceful protest. Trenton is within a 10 mile radius of me, so for my own safety I decided it was finally time to do it.

I filled out the online paperwork. I had my two references submit their paperwork to confirm my character. I paid the $50 to drive an hour away to the nearest fingerprinting location to get my prints taken (there aren’t any locations in south jersey FYI, everything is north of Trenton so fuck south jersey I guess).

My criminal history background check was completed on 6/5/20. The instructions from that email were to wait for further instruction. It’s been almost three months later, and no further instruction has been given.

I’ve called my local police station twice since 6/5 - first about a month later (just after July 4th) and again today. The first time they told me it’d be another couple weeks. Today they told me the entire process takes at least three months.

I’ve never been convicted or jailed of any crime. This is purely a statist chokehold on our right. I’m trying to hold it together so I don’t get completely blacklisted, but I’m beyond furious. I just want to participate in Sunday gunday with my fellow patriots.

tl;dr New Jersey sabotaging gun ownership

A right delayed is a right denied. Since the law doesn't matter anymore, buy one off the street.

Grab some parts and put one together. No registration needed.

For a first time applicant this is normal. Get used to it in NJ. I've been licensed for years but in NJ you still need to apply for a pistol purchase permit, same application process as FID. And it take 3+ months. BTW, if you already haven't check out stores, the shelves are empty.
