I just don't blame the police in those cases. I live near Seattle. I get it. I see it all the time.
Funny Story - about a year ago, we went to a popular whiskey bar in Seattle with friends. We had to wait outside for an hour to get in. I asked if we can get drinks, pay for them and consume them outside. The "door man" was livid that I suggested that and said it was illegal and that they would lose their license. I casually pointed out the homeless person passed our 15 feet away from us with a needle in his arm (most likely heroin). He told me not to be a smartass. Everyone still wanted to go in so I just shook my head and said, OK man - you win. Seattle is dying because of shit like this.
So, I get it that police will just arrest them and the liberal DAs and prosecutors will do nothing.
What I think should happen is that in these cases where the DA wants to throw the book at someone, the police should say, "We will not comply - we see that they didn't do anything wrong. Arresting this person will put a monetary risk to the city and it's wrongful". Then turn their backs on the city council, mayor, and governors. The city council already "fired" the (Black Female) police chief out there because B-L-M. Horray for progress.
So the police need to make a choice - pick a fucking side and stick to it. They can't keep getting shit on by the people and city they protect. They shouldn't keep protecting the side that wants to burn their buildings to the ground with them in it, destroy their way of life, ruin them financial or just want them and their families dead and let their corpses rot in the streets. That is just as insane as letting these "mostly peaceful protestors" continue to savage life, property and lively hoods.
Don't blame the police every single person they arrest is released the next day. The DA needs to be charged with all the damage that happening.

Pick. A. Fucking. Side.
Just my .02 cents.
