There's no need to describe it as a slingshot, or anything of the sort. The first guy shot was seen behaving violently towards men with guns, including saying "shoot me nigga". Then, he is seen chasing the armed kid, who is attempting to flee, while the other guy tries to assault him. Finally, the kid shoots when he the attacker is almost on top of him.
To say the kid shouldn't have shot, is to say he should have allowed the older/stronger/violent person chasing him to wrestle the gun from his hands and kill him. This seems like an absolutely solid self-defense case, although he may need a real lawyer for that given the political lynch mobs going around.
It appeared to be on fire, thrown by a man who looked like stone cold who went on record earlier in the evening saying he wanted to be busted on or some shit earlier.
