I don't think 304 electoral votes is 1/5 of america.

Trump and Hillary each drew somewhere around 60 million popular votes. The United States is just over 300 million people, grand total. So, in the strict technical sense, Trump DID win one-fifth of America. Problem is, so did Hillary. Of the OTHER three-fifths, just under half didn't even care enough to vote, and the rest were't eligible to vote.
