Correct. We don't crave combat, because we've already seen the horrors of it.
My first Sergeant Major in the Cav said it best on my second tour to the new Scouts:
"Let me put this into words you young Scouts can understand:
Y'all young bucks play those games with knights and dragons and shit right? Well at the beginning of those games, you are killing pigs and rats and shit like that, chomping at the bit to get to that dragon. Once you get to that dragon, and it starts breathing fire and toasting your pals, you freak out.
Combat is like that, you all are chomping at the bit to get down and dirty, not realizing that when bullets start flying, shit gets real and your friends will die. We didn't ask for this, but you shouldn't crave it either."
