short hand version of the story:

the kid was out (in his own words) protecting property from arson and looting (against the rioters).

at some point people starting running after and charging him. he is seen on video retreating, running away. until it looked like he got cornered and had to use force to get out of the situation (again, this is what it looks like on video)

this is where the first casualty happened - he pretty much point blank shot the aggressor, deceased now, died on video

after that he kept running (from what it looks like he was heading towards the police), but more of the mob were now after him.

he tripped and fell to the ground. at which point there were attempting to "get him" while he was down.

some dude hit him with his skateboard, while he was trying to recover from his fall.

skateboarder shot dead (again, self defense on video, well documented)

another guy came up to him and tried to punk him, faking a surrender, but then pulled a gun.

that one got shot in the arm.

at this point all the other aggressors/mobsters retreated or surrendered, leaving him free to keep walking towards the police
