A few centuries of capitalism and a mild dose of common sense would have told you that shutting your mouth about politics and keeping 75% of the customer base versus picking a side and getting less than that is bad business. Literal fucking C-suite execs had to learn this concept and it only took a few billion dollars to get it through their skulls.

Or rather some big stake holder opted to sue the shit out of them for using company resources for efforts that actually harmed the company.
