Get this. I'm not a US citizen. And I live in Japan. Wife is Japanese. As usual, they're broadcasting the lies CNN feeds them. He was unarmed. There were kids in the car. He was shot 7 times in the back for no reason. They broadcast the interview with his fiancee repeating the same lies. And my wife is watching this shit. And she swallows it all and then some more. And I'm sitting there fuming, because I know these are all lies. And at one point l, I can't take it anymore. I just go "these are all lies. They are not reporting the truth. This man is a felon. He was fleeing police. He was fighting them a few seconds before. He's a criminal. He once raped a 14 year old and.."

And that's when she just said "もう黙って、うるさい", Which can be translated as "you're annoying ,just shut the fuck up".

Man, I really hate the media. All the media. No exception. They are driving their fucking wedge everywhere. They are the source of ALL chaos and lawlessness and disorder everywhere. I hate them with a passion.

Pretty typical to be honest, just leaves the convo when the facts don't match up with the narrative. I think the best thing to do is show her the video and be patient. Don't argue because politics isn't worth losing a marriage to.

I mean, I disagree with that last statement in some ways. The general sentiment, which is that a disagreement on a single matter that is manifested in real life, rather than on moral principle, should not be grounds for losing a marriage...I can agree with that.

But, this is a hint of 3 things:

  1. the inability to accept new evidence countering your personal thoughts.
  2. the refusal to change your opinion in light of new evidence.
  3. the dismissal of objective reality.

The biggest one is number 3. In order to truly believe in objective reality, you have to really submit to 1 and 2. So long as OP's wife still has a belief in objective reality, then yeah, there's no reason to call it quits over a single criminal case thousands of miles away.
