News corporations are the tools of the billionaire class. It's a way for billionaires to dump money to propagandize the masses. I don't think it was always this way, but it's been like that for at least 100 years (yellow journalism). The newscorps don't really care about ratings because they get money infused from other sources. They DO care about advertisements, which are reflected in ratings, but even that is more on an industrial scale than any independent advertisement (which is why they shill for big pharma so hard).

Now- the producers look like Nostradamus! CNN/MSNBC/MSM are putting the exact opposite of the truth out there, taking money from foreign governments/investors and doing their bidding to encourage rioting/looting/racial hostility. Just think about all the Conservatives and Trump supporters attacked and killed in the last 4 years by Democrats. The numbers across the country are at least in the thousands. Democrats have killed more Conservatives in the last 4 years than 9/11.
Now think about how many Trump supporters attacked and killed Democrats? The answer is none...the only exceptions are cases of self defense. We've had people try to assassinate Republican senators, we've had people beat Republican senators, at their own homes no less.
How many Democrat senators have been physically attacked by Conservatives? Zero.
And think of all the other side incidences. Remember when Sarah Sanders was kicked out of a restaurant? Remember when Ted Cruz and others were having dinner and people were allowed in to harass them at their tables? They've outright discriminated against Conservatives across the country. People grabbing MAGA hats, a fast food employee assaulting a teen for wearing a MAGA hat, people car jacking a guy for saying he voted for Trump, Sandmann, and soo much more.
Has any of this happened to the left? Nope.
The only technicality that makes it not civil war, is the fact that we're not doing to the left, what the left is doing to us. It's a one sided civil war.
