Not necessarily. This is a criminal case. Sandman was a Tort/Civil case. Furthermore he would have to be barred in the state of Wisconsin. He may have people at his firm that are I'm not that familiar with his firm. That's not to say he can't reach out to groups like USCCA, Law Shield, et. al. for referrals to local experts in WI self-defense law and hire them for the case.
The civil case for the first shooting is going to be the toughest. Although given the guy was a convicted pedo and charged at him yelling racial slurs...I'm not sure a jury would be willing to award much in the way of damages. The next two shoots are clear self defense. The guy hitting him with a skateboard...yeah a skateboard to the head is a lethal threat and the guy who lost his right arm clearly had a gun and was convicted felon as well.

The person at the scene who says "I didn't shoot him" is not Kyle. That happened after the shooter fled.

Unlike what the left claims words are not violence unless a direct threat. Even then it varies from place to place in the US. Now there are still arguments to be made for justified self-defense. I know where I live if he was close enough and chucked something at me in the dark I could argue I was in fear of my life and that would be enough under my state laws to be a justified use of force. The head shooting guy had his face covered as he was moving through an area where cars were actively being burned and smashed. He was shown on several videos being belligerent and aggressive. The suspect was shown on camera being reasonable and calm on video, clearly stating his intention of protecting local businesses. It doesn't take a genius to put two and two together and a jury would arrive at a logical conclusion.
The burden is on the prosecution to provide evidence that leaves a jury with beyond a reasonable doubt of his guilt. I think the defense has a significant advantage in this case. I can't think of any prosecutorial evidence the plaintiff could provide to support that the accused is a killer.

felon voting rights are a state by state issue. In Texas felons are able to vote 5 years after completing their sentence/discharging parole. I have a handful of felonies and proudly voted for GEOTUS in '16 and can't wait to do it again in November.
Honestly I'm divided on this. On the one hand, felons usually vote Democrat which means I don't really want them voting. On the other, I believe we should treat people who have served their sentence as full citizens again, not second-class citizens with tons of restrictions on their freedoms. Thay said, I also believe prisons should actually be rehabilitating people rather than being useless. So it's kind of a wash.

yeah, usually a small entry wound with no exit would mean distance shot with a .22 or less. Though, that does make a mess of a brain, as the bullet bounces around inside shredding it to bits.
edit: a 5.56x45 NATO round at 30ft would definitely have blown out the back of the guys head with a ~2.5" hole, the .223 for an AR does not have the same punch.
They're actually surprisingly close, contrary to popular belief. .223 leaves the barrel at roughly 3100fps while 5.56 is going roughly 3260fps. (With your typical 55gr loads for both). We're talking less than 30ft/lbs of difference in energy delivered.
you put a NATO round into an AR, and you're at ~65000 psi than the .223 round of 55000psi if the NATO round is used in a weapon that is designed for 5.56, then yea, you're at 58000 psi in the shot, which is that 30ft/lb difference. That's still a significant difference if both used in an AR, and not a difference of 30ft/lbs of energy. Also you risk irreparably damaging your weapon.

That's actually not true, and you can find multiple tests confirming it. The alleged difference in pressure is actually just a difference in how it's measured. SAMMI measures it one way, while the military measures it another. 5.56 can be fired out of a .223 rifle with no risk.
More to the point, the argument about pressures is irrelevant when talking about energy transfered downrange. At their core, guns are simple. You take a piece of lead and throw it really fast at something. F=ma or (F=mv^2 for those who don't want to deal with acceleration). Since the mass pf both bullets is the same, 55gr, all we care about is the velocity. And because 3100fps and 3200fps are extremely close from a gun standpoint, we know that they impart roughly the same amount of kinetic energy. Guns are fancy and have a lot of engineering in them, but at the end of the day we're just throwing small bits of metal really fast.

Like the old saying goes, would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6. If he gets competent enough counsel though, he might avoid trial altogether and get the charges completely dropped before the state loses a blatantly overcharged case.
I'm afraid they will prosecute the technicalities to the fullest extent of the law anyway: crossing State lines with the gun (seems like a dumb law to me and I don't know the penalty) carrying while underage, although there might be an exception that covers him? And of course does he legally own that gun where he lives in IL?

Do we have the details on the first shooting (of the convicted pedo)? That's the only one that I haven't seen good evidence of. He's running towards where it happened, gets obscured, the shooting happens, then he immediately starts to make a call (to police?) then gets out of there when it becomes clear he needs to leave and get to the police.
Also: who was shooting (and at what) after the second shooting? There's someone else shooting and I've heard nothing about it.
I've seen all this. I've even posted videos with more angles of the first shooting. There's not much to see. He's running towards thugs smashing cars, the shots starting ringing out. I can't see what happens. The other shootings are clearly self defense, but I can't see anything in the first one.
Hopefully that car lot had cameras that were working at the time.
Don't forget that the burden rests with the accuser. There is footage of the accused stating his intentions and showing his calm and reasonable demeanor. Conversely, there are videos of the victim acting belligerent and aggressive. His face was covered as he was present in the parking lot where cars were actively being smashed and burned. We have video proof that the suspect did not shoot anybody indiscriminately in the second/third incidents. There is no video that shows exactly what happens and unless a witness comes forward, there is no way to know exactly what happened. Under these circumstances, it's hard to imagine a scenario where the law comes down on him for that first incident.
Let's clear one thing up; if they try to charge him with premeditated murder or anything like that, they are setting themselves up with failure, regardless of what evidence surfaces.
Oh, I agree, but given the circumstances: He shot pedo guy, we don't know what happened. It at least makes sense that they arrested him for that. The charge of murder 1, at this point, seems like complete BS, and especially in the other case. As it stands now arresting him makes sense, but so far I've not seen any evidence that either exonerates him or implicates him in the first shooting.
So far, everything I've seen indicates that it's more likely he shot for a good reason than not, but we'll need to wait for all of the evidence to come out to know if there's enough there one way or the other.
Given what we've seen so far, I don't see enough to convict him of anything, much less murder 1.
I rewatched the far away videos of the first shooting after the New York Times, oddly enough, annotated a still from the video, so now I understand what happened.
The guy who threw the crappy molotov-like thing at Kyle was charging at him. Kyle turned and fired at him just as he got to Kyle.
The guy knew he had a rifle. He still charged at him.
So, now we're ... what is that? 3 for 3? All three shootings are justifiable.

Yeah, further evidence showing his control is how people around him put their hands up and he didn't just indiscriminately go after them. He only went after the people who threatened his life in a chaotic situation.
If the gun was illegal and they can't get him with the murder/homicide charges, a judge might charge him with having an illegal weapon or something just to throw the book at him.
Yeah, they might be able to get him with something like 'taking a firearm across state lines' or some shit like that. If they really want to get him with something, they can probably find something. All of the shootings seem like clear-cut self defense to me.

There's a really critical clip that you haven't seen. It's the first shooting, magnified and slowed down. You can clearly see dead head charging straight at Kyle, Kyle runs out of room to flee, then dead head drops. The only real mystery left is how did Kyle shoot him and the bullet entered the right side of his head? The most plausible explanation for this is somebody off camera to the right shot him, even if Kyle takes the blame for it.
You're right. I saw a better resolution clip after seeing an annotated still, so I knew who was dead head and it was so much clearer what happened. Dude was charging at him. Bunch of violet thugs these people are. If kyle didn't shoot them, I have little doubt he would have gotten beaten severely, boot to the head style, like we've seen in other videos.
And very likely killed, seeing as slot machine had his handgun drawn. Although the other various weapons they were chasing him down with had t lethal potential too, as well as to paralyze or permanently disfigure. Notice we don't even have a total for how many people have suffered that in these riots. Deaths are what, over 40? How many died in the Kenosha apartment fire?

Yeah, the police have a job of getting a confession out of you. Even stupid little details can depend a lot on exactly how you phrase them. You need to realize that even professional lawyers do not know all the laws you might have broken.

The only thing we don't know is why he was running in the first place. What the video shows is 100% self defense. However you have to consider the fact that Kyle was breaking law by carrying a rifle under the age of 18. The Prosecutor is going to exploit the shit out of this and it's unfortunate. I personally think any 16 year old should be able to buy a long gun. I mean if we're going to trust them with driving why the fuck not?
