Oh shit, I heard numerous other gunshots that I was curious about, but we haven't gotten any details yet. I also missed that flash in the video. There are also gunshots soon after Kyle shoots the two assailants.
We know Kyle was pursued by a mob, and that mob was the same group of people antagonizing the militia-stype group. All 3 persons shot, were also part of that mob.
Even without the outside gunshots, there are some very clear pieces of evidence that both shootings were almost certainly self-defense.
He fires four shots as three people rush toward him.
At least 7 rush towards him at close range with clear intent to attack (not just follow). You have to replay the footage several times to see it.
I just cannot fathom what the hell "shot in the arm" guy was thinking. He had you dead to rights. No matter how fast you are you are not going to be fast enough. All he had to do was slowly walk backwards with his hands still up and he would not have gotten shot. How stupid is this guy?
He was playing hero, hyped up in the moment. You can see him go from hands-up to trying to shoot Kyle right before his arm is blasted. He's VERY lucky to not be dead-guy #3.
Now, if he had a brain, he wouldn't have charged in that close, and rather shot Kyle from a distance, but lets all be thankful paramedic-hat is really stupid.
