Imagine a sex offender who has never committed another crime, marries and has children, a decent job, and becomes a productive member of society. Then vigilantes invade his home and in the process hurts and/or kills his wife and children. Or burns down the house with his wife and kids in it. Is it fair to the people who live with a convicted sex offender to have their address publicly identified as such? Should a sex offender never be able to lead a normal life again?
Fucking of course not and I’m not making that argument, clearly. You still have not told me the difference between registering and crimes being public record. Ive been clear that I don’t understand and am legitimately seeking clarification and you continue to throw out these hypotheticals. I was literally just trying to understand this situation at a deeper level but I’m not going to run in circles and continue having to ask the same question and get another what if about speeding or someone burning a house down followed by “is it fair?!”
I’m not saying it’s fair, I’m trying to understand how it happens regarding something I’m clearly not familiar with.
When someone is convicted of a sex crime, regardless if they are 18 and had a relationship with a 15 or even 16 year old, or if they are 40 years old and molests 6 year olds, they are required to register every 6 months with the local sheriff at every address they move to for the rest of their lives.
Periodically, texts are sent out to neighbors telling them who the sex offenders are in their neighborhoods. There are also sites you can go to that shows all the sex offenders in a certain zip code.
The problem is there is no clarification as to whether it's a 50 year old pedophile who has offended countless times, or a one-time offender that was convicted as a teenager.
Anyone can pull up a criminal's record for theft, DUI, etc. on sites like "mugshot.com" if you already know their name.
But you’re saying mugshot.com for example doesn’t contain their addresses? So the issue is the addresses on the registry? Vs no addresses published for public records?
Also you can just say “sex offender” you don’t need to qualify it by comparing the two extremes. I am aware there is a broad range of what that could mean
So, theoretically though if you see them on the registry you can look up the record/nature of their crimes. So whatever they said of rosenbaum “two counts sexual abuse minor under 15” you would find by searching the public record?
Not all public records are online. To get the details of his crime you would either have to go to the AZ courthouse and look at the hard copy documentation or request it from the clerk of courts electronically which comes at a cost.

No. It does not contain any personal information. Just the type of crime and the date of the offense along with their name and the arrest location.
Also you can just say “sex offender” you don’t need to qualify it by comparing the two extremes. I am aware there is a broad range of what that could mean
The terminology is confusing.
Sex offender registry = Administrated by the local sheriff of the jurisdiction the offender lives in.
Public records = court records administered by the clerk of courts.
Arrest records = administered by the local jails which sometimes includes mugshots, but not always.
Mugshots.com = information gathered by a private company from public records, which does not always include mugshots.
