All the major sport leagues make their money primarily thru the TV contracts. That goes for

NBA NFL MLB Soccer NASCAR NHL

Well over half their revenue is from the TV contract, ticket sales and merchandise are small in comparison.

The China Virus ruined the NBA & NHL playoffs and pushed back the MLB season. It totally disrupted professional sports.

If the primary source of financial income is from TV contracts.So how are the networks doing? They are suffering, while people have been stuck at home, they binged watch Netflix & HULU all day & night long. Cable cutting is still an issue. While the networks have been unable to charge what they used to for commercial time, those people know what a DVR is and that people fast forward. When it comes to sports people tend to watch it live and therefore were able to charge advertisers more. With sports in hiatus, no good commercial money for the network.

This whole dynamic is gone.

The TV ratings for the NBA & MLB with nobody in the stands is very low. So low that these networks will have a hard time getting the money they used to from their advertisers.Its the TV networks with their heavy liberal tilt that fostered the demise of professional sports with the kneeling during the anthem and trying to turn football into Flag Football or "Two Hand touch".

So when LeBron and the rest had their hissy-fit after Kenosha and wanted to end the season, the real power brokers the TV networks put an end to it.

Once they were told if they don't finish the playoffs they'll lose 25-30% of their pay... they were so brave until it affected their bottom line.

Virtue signaler Mark Cuban should be raked over the coal for this (assuming his team is still in the playoffs).
