Because men with guns come kidnap you and lock you up if you don’t. And for all the absolute bullshit liberals talk, for all the bravado on letting felons out of prison early, they have NO PROBLEM locking you up if you don’t pay your hush/ransom/protection money
Of course in our authoritarian state run by Dems (NJ) they charge a tax, "transfer fee"........for what? We are already taxed to the max on our property, but they get you one more time when you sell- between 1-3%.......
It always seemed weird to only tax a company's profit. Like, I'm in debt, that's a loss. I can't deduct basic expenses of keeping myself alive and investing in myself for an eventual profit. I post a loss and pay more on top of that. I understand why it is like that, but if we could move in a direction of it being less retarded, that would be great. Payroll taxes are like a vice tax on employment or just a way to pretend that poor and middle class people don't take the brunt of it all. The world is going to splinter apart because everyone wants a piece of this capital flight pie.
And under Obamacare you get taxed for NOT buying insurance. Obama even lied and said it wasn’t a tax then the court ruled it was a tax so it could be considered Constitutional.
Good thing our President ended this ridiculous mandate.
As a business owner, if I didn't have to collect sales tax, my life would be easier. I wish I didn't have to collect sales tax.
Right off the bat, because of credit card interchange fees, I lose about 3% of all that tax money I collect. So for every $97 in taxes that actually hit my business bank account, I have to pay $100.
The form is annoying to fill out. Even more annoying if you have to collect taxes in multiple states. Some states charge sales tax on pre discount pricing. So if you have a buy one get one free sale, you're technically supposed to charge double tax on that. So you can't even do a simple calculation of "what's x% of my sales, that's what I owe in taxes". No, you need specialized software just to make sure you're in compliance.
Then there's also more stupid rules like transactions over a certain amount pay a completely different tax rate but only if they fall into certain categories. If you're a general contractor, even though you're reselling everything you buy, you're supposed to pay sales tax on everything you buy, even though that applies to virtually no other business. If they're a government agency (or an airline, I wonder how much that cost them in lobbying) they don't pay sales tax.
We do ask. We have no representation outside of Trump. So, barring a mass worker strike, think Atlas shrugged, wth can we do?
I’ve asked myself this question numerous times, and you’re right, all we can do is Shrug. That will never happen 😕
I’ll tell ya why...

Preach
Tariffs and excise taxes should be the only sources of Federal funding.
I think the same thing every time this is posted. I also agree in spirit, but I think the message is lost thru poor writing.
Taxation is theft!
I'm pretty sure actual civil war will actually be required to change this one.
Taxes...oof, gov will definitely die on that hill.

At some point it is going to happen. Taxing us to our last dime to support their left wing policies
You're paying for failed schools that aren't open, and police departments that refuse to enforce the law.

I've asked everyone I know this question, probably multiple times some of them. No good answer.
Why even pay taxes if the FED is just printing unlimited money? Brrrrrrrr
The Sales Tax is the store - imo should-be-illegally - making YOU pay THEIR operations tax.

Knowing more about it only makes me rawr-y-er about it. Jeez.i didn't even think about the complications of multiple-state businesses.
And paying more for products due to price supports.
