Not an excuse. I live in NJ and am in the proccess of getting a permit now. It takes a long time, and you won't get a carry license, but it's not that big of a deal.
Especially with the gun shortages, it can take months to get a permit, than a while to find a gun once you have one. If there comes a time when you need it, you could end up waiting 4 to 5 months till you can get it

I've been a lifetime member for a little over 2 years now and I've never been disappointed by the GOA. The NRA I let my membership lapse and they still call me begging for money. I think I'll make an extra donation to the GOA this month.
NRA is much bigger at roughly 5 million members, but it has also been around and popular much longer than the GOA (2 million members). Also, it stands to note that many firearms manufacturers partner with the NRA and include NRA pamphlets in the boxes of all their new guns. GOA does not have that level of exposure yet.

GOA definitely needs us to donate more to them than just our yearly $25 membership fee. They do so much, and if we ever want an alternative to the NRA, someone who can continue to get politicians to LISTEN, they need a lot of money, membership fees alone won't cut it.

i think that's kind of where the NRA went wrong. they became basically an industry advocacy org instead of a civil rights advocacy org they were supposed to be.
