Because I live in MA and it's extremely difficult here. Not only that, I have been labeled with mental health issues since I was 5 years old (ADHD and Anxiety Disorder) so I highly doubt I would be allowed to get a firearm.
Not an excuse. I live in NJ and am in the proccess of getting a permit now. It takes a long time, and you won't get a carry license, but it's not that big of a deal.
Especially with the gun shortages, it can take months to get a permit, than a while to find a gun once you have one. If there comes a time when you need it, you could end up waiting 4 to 5 months till you can get it

ADHD and Anxiety aren't cause for being disallowed gun ownership. The question asked is whether you were ever deemed "mentally incompetent."

I can relate, I didn't want to own a gun, but wanted the ability to get one if i needed one.
Unfortunately, thats not possible in California so you're required to stock up and buy well before you need it.
