You have a context problem. He went there to protect his community. The "muh state lines" complaint is gaslighting nonsense. He lives 15 minutes away so that is 100% his community they were looting and setting aflame. If he went there looking for trouble, he would have shot when he got pepper-sprayed and he would have fired immediately instead of running away from all of his attackers. He conducted himself well beyond his years and deserves your respect.
Was he there protecting his or his families property ("his community", is not an acceptable answer)? I don't think so, ergo, he (they) went looking for trouble. IMHO it was as much a LARP as the antifa idiots, it just turned deadly.

Washington went looking for trouble when the Continental Army shot Redcoats too, so?

Tough noogies. That WAS the answer.
When you ask a question, you need to be prepared for the possibility that you'll get an answer you don't like.
