Well yeah, even the NY Slimes was forced to admit that Kyle wasn't the first person to fire a shot there. If the leftist DA thinks they're going to pin him with multiple counts of Murder 1, they've got another thing coming. This is a clear cut case of self defense in all instances.
At most, they might slap him with the maximum penalty for carrying a firearm while underage, but at that point you're essentially just penalizing a kid for having the tool to protect his own life while he was under attack. Without that rifle, Kyle would be a bloody smear on the Kenosha pavement, so good luck with the optics of locking a kid up for not letting himself be killed.
I fully believe that if a jury acquits him of the murder charges but convicts him of unlawful possession of a firearm he's going to receive a pardon
if a jury of his peers don't think he committed murder, that he was in the right, it was the definition of a good shoot, but they say "well you know he really shouldn't have had a gun"
paramedic hat guy who got his arm blown off was a convicted felon and was also unlawfully in possession of a firearm. penalties offset, first down.
Saw something earlier about 17 being the minimum age for militia membership. I think that’s a nationwide thing? Not sure though, if true it should supersede local laws.

These are state charges, and I definitely do not see the current governor giving him a pardon.
don't Presidential pardons override everything?
No, the president cannot pardon state charges. Only Federal.
Mentioned upthread, but Wisconsin law only prohibits minors owning short-barrel shotguns and pistols.

I thought I read where you have to be 18 to open carry there. Even if thats the case its probably a misdameanor.
The gun charge is minor in the face of the murder charges.
