'Now sweetheart, if you want to be sure a man is worthwhile and will truly love you, he will always open the door without asking, never allow you to carry anything heavy, and mercilessly slaw any aggressor who seeks to take another's life and liberty without justification.'
My wife and I are having another child. We don't know the gender yet, but she was casually tossing a bunch of low energy names at me as I was reading about kenosha for the first time. I looked up and asked "how about Kyle? ".
My wife and I are having another child. We don't know the gender yet
Pesky self-appointed language police butting in here: Please don't adopt the gender-crazies' misuse of language. You don't know the baby's SEX yet. Humans and animals don't have "genders", they have sexes. Grammar has genders.
They really aren't. Gender is a grammatical term. It originally came into informal use as a pseudo-polite way to avoid saying the word "sex" out loud, since "sex" is also popularly used to mean sexual intercourse. But it's only in very recent years, after the trans-activists got a foothold, that the word "gender" ever appeared in any official written or spoken English to indicate sex. For example, forms asking people to indicate their "gender" are a very, very recent development.
Informally, it's been in use that long, to avoid saying "sex" out loud. But it was never used in any formal or official way -- forms, identification documents, textbooks, schools/colleges describing themselves as "single-sex", etc. -- until the "trans" craze came along. In the 1980s, there were a few "transsexuals" -- this meant people who had gone all the way and had their genitals and reproductive organs surgically changed. The concept of "transgender" and the word "transgender" hadn't been invented yet.
The trans-activists took the fuzzy word "gender" and tried to convince everybody that it had always been a synonym for "sex", and therefore "transgender" girls (i.e. biological boys who may still have all their original parts) have every right to use the "girls'" restrooms/locker rooms), play on girls' sports teams and all the rest. I think it's a very dangerous language trend that is helping the trans-activists take control of official and legal matters (e.g. reinterpreting the legal meaning of Title IX to apply to whatever "gender" people "identify as", even though the language of the bill plainly says sex, and meant actual sex), and helping them brainwash impressionable young people into imagining that they're "transgender". Accordingly, I believe it would be very beneficial to drop the informal use of "gender" as a synonym for sex, and say "sex" when we mean "sex". Clear language supports clear thinking.
I agree it was mostly used as a euphemism to avoid saying sex, but I do remember seeing it on forms and such quite regularly.
Your experience from there on however is different than mine. I saw the trans activists trying to say gender and sex were different, so someone could be a man or woman because it's their gender, even though their sex doesn't align with it.
In the English language I grew up speaking, "gender" is a synonym for sex. Perhaps that's regional; perhaps it's because I grew up in church. Either way, I'm not going to give up my language because the transgender movement wishes to dictate how I can speak.
Gender is a synonym for sex. Gender identity is the sex someone believes (or claims to believe) themself to be. It's clear to me, and I believe to most everyone I know.
I do think churchy environments were much more likely to use the word "gender" to mean sex, especially conservative churches which discouraged casual, open discussion of sexuality. I wouldn't try to force anyone to use different words than they want to use in their own speaking and writing (it's a free country), but I would very much like to see all official circumstances using the absolutely clear "sex", to weaken the trans-activists attempts to blur legal and official lines between biological sex and what people may "identify as". If I'm ever in a position to decide, influence, or vote on whether to use "sex" or "gender" in some official matter, I'll be pushing hard for "sex".
Whatever you say. But people come in 2 sexes, male and female. And blurring the distinction between sex and "gender" is a tool of the "trans" and other pseudo-gender activists. Sadly, it's been a very successful tool.
I guess I'm using the 9th edition of Newspeak... There is no difference between sex and gender. Your belief that there is makes you a tool of the alphabet people. Please take that John Money bullshit and fuck yourself.
Which shows you just how racist the left is. When Obama said that about Trayvon, it was about the kids skin color and not his actions. Us conservatives say if we had a son, he’d BE Kyle, based in his actions instead of his skin color.
Maybe his father did tell him to stay home. Maybe he didn't know he was going. Who knows. I remember when I was 17 I did what I wanted and no one could change my mind. He went there with good intentions and did good things. It's not his fault theedia is doing what they usually do. Godspeed young man.
Considering just how close he came to getting killed that night, you would be right to tell him to stay home. People here act like Kyle was Rambo. I'll grant you that he was well prepped, but he was severely outnumbered and was getting shot at. I really admire his courage, but now he's in the belly of the beast- a liberal court-, and he has to live the rest of his life knowing that he took the lives of two other men. Don't think that's an easy burden to bear. I sure wouldn't want my sons to start out at 17 like that.
The left can’t fathom that a 17 year old kid can keep his cool and operate in an orderly manner without letting his emotions get the better of him. Kid saw a threat, terminated it, didn’t hurt anyone who was not an immediate threat to him, immediately called the police to notify what was going on, and knew exactly how to approach them to not be seen as a threat himself.
I almost want to be a conspiracy theorist and say he was too organized in how this all went down, but that’s just what happens when you are raised right.
It's funny, this situation has got me thinking more about my own social responsibility. I'm old enough to be Kyle's dad. How do I support the next generation.
I am good with dead scum, but I'm Sad a good kid had to do it. He will carry that with him and I hope it fades quickly once this unnecessary drama is over.
I have daughters and I think its the first time I seen a young man and thought "I'd be OK with my daughter dating that guy".
'Now sweetheart, if you want to be sure a man is worthwhile and will truly love you, he will always open the door without asking, never allow you to carry anything heavy, and mercilessly slaw any aggressor who seeks to take another's life and liberty without justification.'
It was more of a raw hamburger than a slaw, but I get your meaning.
Ah shit, you got me, scratched my head for a minute there.
We'll see what our side is made of if they try to put him in jail.
My wife and I are having another child. We don't know the gender yet, but she was casually tossing a bunch of low energy names at me as I was reading about kenosha for the first time. I looked up and asked "how about Kyle? ".
"That has a nice ring to it" she responded.
"It does, doesn't it?"
Middle name: "Freedom"
Gender; PATRIOT!

You bigot! It might identify as "owner of transferrable M2 Browning" Pronouns: Sir/Captain
:)
Gender and sex are the same thing. By separating the two, you are actually playing into the left's narrative

I was born in '83. I grew up with the word gender meaning sex. I see no reason to change that now.

I definitely used the correct term. We find out the gender in a few weeks.

Thank you! Fight the good fight!
I LOVE this.
I believe the phrase is: "No Justice, No Peace".
Actually the phrase is “if I had a son...”
Which shows you just how racist the left is. When Obama said that about Trayvon, it was about the kids skin color and not his actions. Us conservatives say if we had a son, he’d BE Kyle, based in his actions instead of his skin color.
Excellent points.
If I had a son, he'd look like Kyle.
Honest question: As his father, would you have encouraged to go out that night to Kenosha, knowing that there were violent riots the past 3 nights??
If he is my son and I have any influence over him I would have asked him to stay at home.
Maybe his father did tell him to stay home. Maybe he didn't know he was going. Who knows. I remember when I was 17 I did what I wanted and no one could change my mind. Doing the right thing really is rebellion these days.
Exactly, parents? pfff "I know better mom I'm 17 I'm almost adult"
when I was 17 all I could do is get drunk
I wish I got 1/10 of Kyle balls when I was 17
I feel like his father raised a damn prepared young man. As a mother I would have tried but a father knows his son's capabilities better.
Like that poor girl murdered by ISIS I would have never supposed that.
Kyle is more mature than most older than him.
And people want to treat him like a baby. Looking at a number rather than someone's actions speaks to a very immature mind.
Considering just how close he came to getting killed that night, you would be right to tell him to stay home. People here act like Kyle was Rambo. I'll grant you that he was well prepped, but he was severely outnumbered and was getting shot at. Nobody is asking to be "a hero" or born as one.
God has bigger plans for some of us and maybe Kyle will be put to the test by God and see if he is worth it.
Same with Trump, wallstreet billionaire who has fantastic life make a choice and now he is in the belly of the best.
I'm going to politely object to your "Wall Street" modifier for GEOTUS.
He did not make his money on Wall Street, he made his money building Wall Street and a bunch more!
I would have said, "If you go you might get killed."
He would have said, "I know. But I also know I can help."
That is what it means to be an American. Some things are worth dying for.
He wouldn't have been going alone.
I only hope that if my husband and I ever have kids we are able to raise them to the same caliber.
Caliber. :)
;D this pede gets it ^
KYLE RITTENHOUSE - AMERICA’S SON
GOD BLESS HIS AMAZING PARENTS (both literally and metaphorically)
America’s son.

My future first born son: Kyle
My future first born daughter: Kayleigh
What about Kyla? I know a couple... It's a good name for a girl.
I hope some MAGA babes slide into your DMs
We're all Kyle's Dad this blessed day.
That is a great idea. I love everything about it.
Same here. I’ve been anxious about him as though he’s my own son.
Amen!
It was his buddy’s gun. Even more incredible.
Don't just free Kyle... Pay Kyle!
Give him some of those Covington Checks. The media is lying and slandering him. Get that boy paid!
Don't worry. Kyle is going to be a millionaire by 19.
Same, he pumps pure Americana.
He sure does seem like the right stuff!
Med Kit!
Support his defense fund, support the goa.
It's funny, this situation has got me thinking more about my own social responsibility. I'm old enough to be Kyle's dad. How do I support the next generation.
