Here's a link to the spectacle. I had been psyched to watch the game. They took the field, like they were about to play, took a moment of silence, and then ran off leaving a BLM shirt on home plate. Within 5 minutes I'd cancelled this season's subscription, and my automatic renewal. I will pay to watch baseball, not politics.

It's so sad that politics have taken over sports. I'm glad I still have IndyCar, they haven't been taken over by radical losers, probably because they are owned by Trump's good friend Mr. Roger Penske.

All of this is over a violent criminal resisting arrest and fleeing the police while trying to grab a knife.

When I was young, I used to love the band Pearl Jam. Eddie was always a bit political, but usually it was subtle at shows. In the 2000s he started telling people who to vote for at his shows. I paid good money to hear Pearl Jam play, not to attend a political rally.

Last time I ever went to see Pearl Jam or bought an album.

Seems to me, they can just hold political rallies or events that are separate from what they do for a living.

Cool. I think you're right, but please help me get over this mis-perception I have of the sport: it always ends up with two people on the ground either hugging each other, or in a sexual position.

I really do want to like UFC, but like I said, I can't get this thought out of my mind.

Now this looks legit.

I used to think the same way but there are fighters who specialize in submitting their opponent. I recommend watching a bunch of fights with submission wins. Once you understand the dominate positions, the ground game starts looking more like a chess match.

I like this chess match analogy.

I highly suggest giving it a shot, grappling may be off putting at first, but once you learn the basic nuances it becomes much easier to appreciate. There's nothing gay about it, these guys are beating the shit out of each other, trying to choke each other unconscious or break one of their limbs. It has also become less relevant in the sport as the skill level has improved, guys are much better at getting back up once taken down, very few guys are able to consistently keep another guy on the ground these days. Most fights are just kickboxing smaller gloves and a bit of grappling.

Khabib and Snoozeman wrestle hump unfortunately.

3
CrazyPope 3 points ago +3 / -0

I don't really like Khabib but I don't think it's fair to compare him to Marty. He completely dominates guys, and especially considering how good everyone has become at defensive grappling, what he does is crazy impressive.OP probably wouldn't like him, but he's pretty unique in today's sport. Marty Fakenewsman is fucking boring, just neutralises guys. I'm praying Burns can beat him, if not I still believe Colby can if he gets through Woodley like he should.

Not trying to take away from Khabibs talent, and he did win his last 2 fights by submission. I admire the wrestling skill set but find the wrestle hump, GNP style to be boring. His news conferences and sound bites are wicked entertaining.

I'll never watch another Snoozeman fight, the fight versus Masvidal was horrendous. He should not be headlining cards. Masvidal took it on short notice and had no cardio.

Wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu is definitely a part of MMA. That being said, you will have some matches that are boring. However, there is plenty of striking and submissions are fun as well.

Fuck yeah.

Inspirational!

I just tossed my Ray's jessie's and a nice collection of hats. I have no allegiance to a team that forgets who their fans are.

Tossed out my Red Sox hat when they put the BLM sign on Fenway.

Been a Red Sox fan since 4 years old.

It's bittersweet, right? But you did the right thing.

I believe in redemption. Maybe one day MLB gets their shit together.

It is so bitter sweet because they were having a decent half season. I say half, because they do this every year, great in the first half.... then they suck the back half. I had to disable my game reminders on my devices also :(

My plan instead of MLB: read some history books (ordered 2 last night) and maybe economic books, make myself more physically active, and talk to my kids more. Much better for my mental health and success than what I did with MLB, the reality of it, anyway: watching very highly paid people play a game in front of a bunch of cardboard cutouts.

I've been re-reading the communist manifesto and next up is On Liberty by John Locke. I've also been getting back into shape for then Civil War 2.0 breaks out when Trump wins on Nov 3

What history books?

2
18-to-life [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

The Great Railroad Revolution- a history of Trains in America.

And a book about the Spanish Galleons. I can’t imagine working one of those ships.

I hear you, big baseball fan here. I watched about three games this year, it seemed to me a lot of these guys appeared to be phoning it in for the asterisk season... If I'm going to watch grown men play a game I want to see them at peak performance.

It seems with everything else going on, my lack of interest may extend far beyond just this season.

Nice. I’m canceling my cable subscription today.

MLB is BLM backwards... think about it.

Well, I'm not up for the execution. A simple firing would be fine by me. There are plenty of other ballplayers to take their place, who just want to be ballplayers.

That's the difference between us and the Leftists.... we address and correct any of the faults we perceive we might have, which is good for the soul. I'm working on a lot of things myself haha.

On the other hand, the Leftists glorify their faults as gifts, hence losing their humanity. Furthermore, the Left's main goal is to try and fix everyone else's faults, or, I should specify, to fix what they see as everybody else's faults. But, since Leftists remain inherently faulty themselves, they are incapable of correct judgement of others.

The woman I spoke to seemed a little weary, like it had been a day of hard work. But she was supportive. And when she asked why I was cancelling, I believe I could hear patriot in her voice.

I played APBA, great game, but not in a long time. I just checked: there's an app ABPA Go. Is it any good?
