Kyle didn't shoot into a crowd, that's not even slightly close to the truth. He shot someone who was chasing him, who had been seen yelling "shoot me nigga" earlier, and who was trying to grab the weapon.
It's also worth noting that while we only see the red-shirt guy close to Kyle, there appear to be others following in the video, which is confirmed by witness statements.

McGinnis stated that as the defendant was walking Rosenbaum was trying to get closer to the defendant. When Rosenbaum advanced, the defendant did a “juke” move and started running. McGinnis stated that there were other people that were moving very quickly. McGinnis stated that they were moving towards the defendant. McGinnis said that according to what he saw the defendant was trying to evade these individuals.
Why was a group of persons chasing Kyle, who they knew was armed, before the first shooting? I'm pretty sure these are the same individuals seen during the second shooting mobbing Kyle. There's a good chance everyone shot was part of a mob chasing Kyle from the very beginning, since we see all of those individuals in the "shoot me nigga" video.
