So, I’ve decided to hit the weights again after putting it off for a long time. I’m still young (22) and can hopefully reverse course from my poor life choices. Any recommendations on shredding pounds and bulking muscle from fellow weight lifting Pedes?

do some cardio (burpees, biking, rollerblading, and even running) and pushups. If you neglect cardio you'll be useless in an actual fight.

It's where you do a push up then stand up and jump up with your hands in the air repeatedly, as quick as possible then repeat going back into a pushup-jump cycle. It looks dumb but it's great cardio and a full body workout. In the army, we would do alot of those. I need to get back in sick shape too, so i'm on the same path. We also would also do alot of reps where you would have your arms out horizontal then lift them up into the vertical, and after 5-10 mins would go into a thing where you would count 1,2,3 from the horizontal arm position where the 1 is u touch your shoulders, 2 touch the top of your head and 3 is raise your arms vertical and just repeat that over and over counting 1,2,3, until your arms get tired. This won't really get you size, but it will help provide the foundation. I hate the gym personally so i've just been doing sets of push ups like 60 a day and rising in sets of 15-25. Eventually i am going to start testing how many i can do in 2 mins, maybe like once a week. I've got to find some bars to work too, as i would love to get in some dips or pull ups. And i haven't done any situps in a while, lol. but eventually here i am going to start incorporating them into my workouts. There's also several abdominal exercises that can be done in the situp position. One of which is the bicycle where your legs basically imitate the motion of riding a bike. And also leg lifts in that position. and outward leg lifts if that makes sense. Also the best tip i can give on diet is to eat salad with romaine, tomatoes, carots, mushrooms, eggs, cheese, avacado, tuna, etc. And i make a dressing with 50/50 olive oil and vinegar, then fresh garlic, garlic+onion powder, italian seasoning, mustard, and plenty of salt. Eating this 3-4 times a week will provide you with alot of minerals, and vitamins and the more you exercise the better the salt will taste. I love drinking that lil bit of dressing left over in the bowl. (careful with the salt though as too much will basically ruin it, but when you get it just right it's delicious) Anyway i hope this helps.

Not a fan of mushrooms or tomatoes. Can’t stand flavor or texture. I’ll try the rest. Thank you.

For the weight lifting component I have no particular expertise. But I know how to drop pounds. I grew up pretty fat and in my mid-20s cut a lot of carbs out of my diet and tried to get more protein. I lost about 80lbs initially and have been able to more-or-less maintain that weight loss for about 10 years now. I lost most of the weight without exercise. But began running once the weight was off and have kept that up.

Do the One Punch Man workout. 100 push ups, 100 sit ups, 100 squats, and a 6 mile run ( can do a 40 minute HIIT workout) every day

And free weights - no isolation shit.
