The police department isnt a meritocracy very long or at all really. It used to be an open secret that you had to know someone to get to a special unit but as recently I had friends tell me they were flat out asked at the end of the interview. I actually would have taken the sgt exam because of what you were saying even though I didn't want to be anything besides a detective but all this shit happened and I said not worth it. This is what the mayor DA commissioner and city council want fuck em they can have it.
They dismantled the chain of command the bosses that were actually good and competent were chased out and replaced by the commissioner and mayors people. They spent a long time slowly corrupting everything it'll take longer to fix. I may be seeing trump flags pop up in my neighborhood but Philly will never flip red and will never put a republican mayor in office
They couldn't demote cops or fire them but they could move them from where they were and put them in shitty places as punishment for not kneeling for blm during the riots. The swat cop was given orders from the top all the way down to use pepper spray already got fired and arrested mainly because krasner the DA tried to get his dad on a clean shoot and couldn't since it was a good shoot went after his son. They went back and changed our use of force after the fact too. The order from the top came to use force as per our directive and he still got fired and arrested. I'm not getting fired and arrested for doing my job correctly and legally. I'll go somewhere where I don't get treated like shit from the top down where a DA don't target more than criminals. That cocksucker krasner was going back over shit from like the last 20 years and re hitting cops that were cleared by investigations just because.
