Kyle never committed a crime. The gun was not possessed illegally. It's legal for minors to possess shotguns and rifles in Wisconsin. Kyle also attempted to speak to the police but they let him go. He was not under arrest and there was no warrant for his arrest that he was aware of when he went home. Even then, it's not a federal offense. It's simply something you can be extradited for back to the state that the crime was allegedly committed.
It's not illegal to cross state lines with a firearm. I do it all the time. It's perfectly legal.
