Non-generational family unit housing is actually quite rare and not a very old American tradition.
'Mister Blandings builds his Dream House'- 1948. The dream was for Carey Grant & Myrna Loy building a house for their children and their children's children living with them.
NOW, I'm not justifying worthless fucks leeching off their parents. Which is the culture of "living with parents" of the modern culture. Just that, its not an unusual thing living with parents while married, with children. Around my area, quite a lot of fucking multi-gen family setups.
You just shouldn't be a lazy scumbag.
I'm torn, as I don't give a fuck someone "lives with their parents" but, in today's era, the grown children living with parents are scummy. I have two neighbors, grown men in their 50s and 60s, living with their parents, unemployed (by choice, really) and do nothing to fix the property. Or help out. Fucking hire ME to do maintenance.
People should do whatever is best for their personal situation. In my experience, I couldn't wait to get out on my own. But it's difficult financially for many people.
We live in a pod (wsj word not mine) with employed son, employed daughter and her employed husband and our granddaughter. It has been a joy to be together for 5 months. We try hard to get along and not fight. I think this is the silver lining of the stupid lockdown
I would love to have my future children near me. Leftists want to break the Family, so that everyone relies on the State.
God is being replaced by Gov.
"No no no, your aunt can't babysit. Not certified."
What the fuck is going on in America?
I am hoping to eventually move out to the farm and have at least 3 generations of my family living there. Everyone should pitch in, everyone should be productive, but I want my family close. I grew up with my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins all within a few minute drive. My grandparents grew up with all those people on the same block. I'd love to see families closer again.
