Depends on my mood. Sometimes I go for darker stuff like Mayhem and Dimmu and sometimes I need thrash metal like SOD and sometimes I put on some 80s hair metal. I get lost in all the metal sub genres.
The songwriting post Master was never as good, IMO. Fame and fortune killed the fire inside them and they became obsessed with their own technical prowess.
But it’s also probably just me. I changed and Justice just didn’t hit me in the right spot. I’ll always hear their first albums with the ears I had at the time, I think. Ya had to be there.
Hard to say, but my musical tastes changed in those couple of years and I was more into punk and hardcore I think and that album just sounded too slick I guess. Effects of early teen years and skateboarding.
First few Metallica albums are really good, I have no use for anything after Master of Puppets. Slayer was consistently good though.

Yeah they’re scumbags, for sure. They can’t all be Billy Milano and Tom Araya.
Metallica has spent their entire career trying to recapture the glory of Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets.
