WotC got their communist hands around the throats of MTG stores, killing the brand entirely. They started banning stores that have pro-american flags or anti-LGBT flags. They hold the power to ban individual players for speaking out on social media.

DND however is untouchable and it's growing in popularity, the fact WotC owns DND has no effect whatsoever on it's players. The rules are only a guide and players always homebrew, and no one enjoys adventure league modules more than a great home made story. Even Matt Mercer's Water Deep is saturated with PC bullshit and it's infinitely worse to play than a solid homebrew.
