How about the death penalty after the first violent felony? A lot of crimes would never happen if the criminal had been dispatched after their first robbery charge.

Giving chances to change is just saying “it’s ok, you get a pass on one or two felonies before we’ll take it seriously.”

Take the first one seriously, and they’ll think twice before committing the first crime.
