What do you expect for people that would see you thrown in jail even if there was no evidence proving you did such a thing?

Not surprising. This is the same party that thinks one day in the mid sixties the parties decided to magically switch. All of the sudden everyone switch sides making the republicans the party of racism. Only one of the senators actually switched sides but that doesn’t matter because it was magic. The republicans who voted for civil rights were magically racist now. The democrats who voted against it had their racism washed away over night. The are now forever the party of peace, love, and equality.
