I've been hearing the talking points more and more lately that an incumbent president has never won with economy numbers this bad, or with this level of social unrest. It's an extremely cynical (evil?) plan, but it's not stupid.

Also, there's a traditionally very predictive poll that asks, "do you think the country is going in a good or bad direction?" If "bad direction" wins the poll than the incumbent president loses.

Peter Thiel is a big name who recently walked his support of Trump way back - the extortion scheme seems to have worked on him. He thinks it's best if we just elect Biden and let the left calm down.
