Back in 2015 or so, there was a tv show that was basically poverty tourism. People would go to these third world countries and try to live like locals. One specific episode I remember was about kids from Seattle and they failed miserably. The host family, who was already short on supplies and food, was kind enough to share what they had with these kids because they couldn’t carry their weight.
Tha's remarkable because they surely know its a temporary situation and they will be returning to the modern hotel and comforts of the capitalist West soon enough.
I knew a radical Leftist who moved to Mainland China and it wasn't long before he was cured of a lot of commie ideology. Mind you, he's probably still convince 'real communism' would surely work if only the USA socialists were given the chance to try it. Surely they'd be the ones to do it right!
