Hi! My husband and I need to get protection and we are in CA. We have to pass the safety test or whatever it’s called. Does anyone have any good study links? We don’t know much about guns but are wanting to learn how to protect ourselves. My local gun store isn’t answering their phones. Thank you!!

Find a local gun forum, I'm nowhere near CA but I've heard of this site from time to time. These people should have all the information you need.

Search for "gun training" online using your zip code.
Try Ventura County if you live nearby. Might be easier to get in classes than OC or LAC.
Elite Firearms Training in Oxnard has good reviews on Yelp.
Also Shooters Paradise (Oxnard).
Thousand Oaks - Triggerburst.
Please go talk to your local gun store. They have all of these resources you will need to get your paperwork in order and necessary study guides. The test was very short and easy for most. If you are in Los Angeles check out the guys at firing line, they have a range on-site and you can shoot many of their available inventory to see what works best for you and your family
The test is basic safety and common sense.
Have to be 21 to buy pistol. Have to be 21 to buy rifle. Are perhaps the hardest because it used to be 18.
