Well you make an interesting point in your last sentence. Some of those who've disappointed me in how quick they've been to embrace masking, home arrest, and lockdowns have been huge 2A supporters, so that's something for me to ponder.
Here, if you want to eat lol, you need a mask to enter grocery stores. Plus, they're private entities, so they could require them without a state edict. So I comply, but I wear the surgical ones after I remove 2 of the 3 layers--I like to breathe!
That said, despite "checkers" at entrances, things are very lax INSIDE the stores, with shoppers AND staff wearing masks below the nose. At Wegmans, one of the cashiers had his entirely down, then quickly pulled it up as he saw me approach. Poor kid.
And our resort areas here--forget it. As in your area, there are many establishments who are outright refusing to require masks. And that's who we try to patronize when we're there lol.
