I’m not paying any attention to sports this year but I went through phases the last few years of getting really into pro football, basketball and baseball.

I’ve tried to explain it to a few of my libertarian friends who hate sports...

For me what makes pro sports great is backstories of the athletes and coaches and the soap opera taking place. A game is so much better when you know the personal stories involved. Like one player who was undrafted going head to head against the number 1 draft pic and they went to rival high schools and have been battling for years and now are at the highest level. Or a players father just died. Or one fucked the other one’s gf or something. It’s drama for men. And it’s real. It’s not acting. But like a great sitcom, the format is the same each episode.

I can’t stand watching films for the most part. I Don’t feel like putting in the effort to learn the characters and appreciate the cinematography and suspend disbelief. Sports doesn’t do that.

Plus the skills of the athletes and the warlike strategies you can only fully appreciate by getting deep into rules and mechanics of them is just freaking awesome.

And yes it is warlike strategy. Bill bellichik and a bunch of other NFL coaches would have been the greatest generals in history if they had chosen those paths and put the same dedication to the craft.

But the coaches only do so much. The players are making decisions on the fly. Baseball gets way more interesting when you learn enough about to pitcher to be able to accurately guess which pitch he is gonna throw. 3-2 count here comes the high heat inside motherfucker. GOT HIM.

I’m absolutely disgusted by the woke infection in American pro sports. And there are other things I hate- like the anti-PED history. But that’s leftist politics trying to destroy a fun and beautiful thing.

Sports is the reward for the most advanced civilizations. Ancient Greece and ancient Roman culture cherished sports. And so does America. And we are best at it.
