Was the pneumonia caused by seasonal influenza, kung flu, neither, or both? The problem is that the pneumonia could have been caused by COVID 19, thus putting those deaths in the "caused by COVID" column, but how many? Only an audit could tell us that.
Leaving out the pneumonia row, what about "Adult respiratory distress syndrome," "Respiratory failure," and "Respiratory arrest?" Are those linked as symptoms of COVID? I thought the kung flu could cause those conditions, are they symptoms, comorbidities, or both?

Cutting the death count in half, then adjusting by about 25% down based upon what Dr. Birx stated about overcounts, then remembering that 40% of the deaths are attributed to nursing homes (of which many were forced to take in infectious individuals, thus were preventable), then the numbers become quite small.
Back of the envelope math yields about 40k deaths. This is very rough and likely highly inaccurate, but this places COVID-19 in the same range as the seasonal flu.

Leaving out the pneumonia row, what about "Adult respiratory distress syndrome," "Respiratory failure," and "Respiratory arrest?" Are those linked as symptoms of COVID? I thought the kung flu could cause those conditions, are they symptoms, comorbidities, or both?
There's a lot to be desired in this. It doesn't answer as many questions as it raises. It seems to muddy the waters even further.

However, if you look at the comorbidities table, you can see that out of the 161,392 total count, 77,990 deaths were attributed to a cause that probably had little to do with covid. Being able to cut the covid 19 death count in HALF (based on deaths that could reasonably be linked to symptoms of a respiratory illness) is still good news.
I agree about the 78k or so that are attributed to things that have little to nothing to do with the disease. Cutting the death count in half, then adjusting by about 25% down based upon what Dr. Birx stated about overcounts, then remembering that 40% of the deaths are attributed to nursing homes (of which many were forced to take in infectious individuals, thus were preventable), then the numbers become quite small.
Back of the envelope math yields about 40k deaths. This is very rough and likely highly inaccurate, but this places COVID-19 in the same range as the seasonal flu.
Holy shit. Those stats were so severe that I didn't believe them. Now I've read that cdc report, and I think our media and medical professionals have a lot of 'splainin to do. This is a disease that overwhelmingly targets those who have lived beyond the average life expectancy by about a decade or more, or those with 2-3 other severe illnesses as comorbidities, yet healthy citizens need to mask up and lockdown? Get out of here. Give me back the last 150 days that I've been furloughed from 3 separate jobs.

Not trying to crap on this post, but this info has actually been out for a while so it wasn’t quietly updated. I know we as humans come across things at different times in our research. It’s been at 6% for at least a month and a half. I do remember seeing it at 7% before then but I’m not completely certain of the date for that so the overall percentage has gone down (color me shocked!)

I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to multiple cause of death statistics. Stayed up too late querying the database a few times. It's impossible to know how many people would have died of these other conditions before corona-chan came around. Still damn interesting to see this data.
My belief has been if you have these conditions then you need to protect yourself. If you aren't at risk then what do you need to worry about? Stay away from Grandma and the neighbor with Asthma.
