I'm an atheist but christians sure seem to know how to lead a good life.

aveydey 116 points ago +119 / -3

Join us. It’s one of the things that I noticed which drew me to start going to church myself. I noticed that the most miserable people were people who didn’t believe in God. No matter how rich they were, how good their lives were, they all seem so unhappy. I noticed that Christians and other people of faith seem to be much happier whether rich or poor and healthy hey seemed to handle hardships and the difficult parts of life much better. I think there’s a reason for that. Find a church nearby and start going. If commies in your local government have banned church then tune in to a service on YouTube. I know I alway feel energized after church.

I’m also an atheist who probably can’t be convinced God exists. However I like a society with Christian principles and fully support that as a state religion.

Felt a bit this way. Then I listened to Ravi Zacharias speech at Princeton and dove into Jordan Petersons lecture on the bible.

That changed for me.

It does come down to faith, because it can't be proven. But in my opinion it takes even more faith to believe that a random explosion from nothing created something then it somehow had sex with itself millions of times to create a complex human with more sophisticated features than a Tesla. And somehow plants evolved and made food coincidentally at the same time. And no one has ever witnessed any of these things ever occurring, which makes it unscientific.

I love Ravi. I'm so grateful and thankful to Ravi and Jordan Peterson for helping bridge the gap for many agnostics and atheists who might struggle with faith. I think sometimes people who love God with their heart find it easier to have faith than those who have to love God with their minds; but Ravi and Jordan help bridge that for many who need to love God with their mind first before they can with their hearts.

I don't have anything against atheists, but I have been verbally attacked by anti-theists posing as atheists over the course of my life. It's the attitude I dislike more than anything.

There's still hope and a lifetime of experiences to be had. To be honest, despite all the awful things happening in 2020, I'm thankful in many ways that it is helping open the eyes of many agnostics. Until the moment of death, there's still hope for a change of mind and heart. So I'm holding out hope for all my atheist and agnostic friends.

If anything, all of the terrible things the left is doing, it's making people re-evaluate their position on a God-less society. Whether that God is "real or imagined" as many atheists like to say, at-least they're able to now recognize that religion isn't necessarily the problem. Even a non-religious society is subject to problem of evil, and many of the principles in the Bible address these very human struggles.

Can we recreate reality like we could create a video game or write a book? even your own eyes are more amazing than all the hard work combined of all men in all creation since the beginning of time.

I could throw spaghetti at a wall for an eternity, but it would not have any chance to ever turn into a space shuttle.

The obvious answer is that God exists and we're in his creation and are his creation. People who say it all exists because of random chance are like the dumb and dumber meme "so you're telling me there is a chance God doesn't exist?" and they believe it because they don't want God to exist because their deeds are evil.

Read or listen to ‘Mere Christianity’ by CS Lewis (it’s on YouTube). That’s what helped me put the world into perspective, and made it that it’s impossible for god not to exist if you really think about it.

Another great source of wisdom is Jordan Peterson’s biblical series, also on YouTube!

I am an atheist myself. But I was once a christian, and feel like I can regain my faith. If the rapture happens.

5
Notmyformerpresident 5 points ago +6 / -1

I haven't lead the best life, I know God is going to have a long talk with me when I go to heaven, but things are not going to be good if you're around after the rapture. I hope you have time to repent.

2
TexasFreedom 2 points ago +2 / -0

Jesus will stand beside you before God and vouch for you no worries, every man must face his creator one day, those that accepted Christ will not stand alone

1
EthanSteel 1 point ago +1 / -0

This isn't a matter of repenting. There is just not enough evidence for me to believe the bible anymore.

2
Gunsmonkey22 2 points ago +3 / -1

When it happens, it's too late for you :( ....because you've forsaken, you want another sign when they are all around you. I don't go to Church, I'm not part of any religion, but God is here and God is great, understand that. The bible puts a few special people to be taken, and I'm not worthy, I'll be suffering in this hell with you, and I get it. I love you.

2
EthanSteel 2 points ago +2 / -0

Really? I know the next seven years after the rapture is going to be complete hell and torture for those who remain on Earth. But we will still have a chance to find our faith. The only time that it's truly too late to accept Jesus is after our death, or if we accept the mark. Isn't that how it goes?

2
EthanSteel 2 points ago +2 / -0

What signs are you referring to anyways?

6
Cyrus 6 points ago +7 / -1

I know this will sound dumb, but I feel that way after watching Phil Robertson talk. He is very inspirational and helps me try to lead a more grounded life.

Check out the book “Mere Christianity” by CS Lewis. I used to be an atheist too until I read that book.

11
Zaxxaz3 11 points ago +12 / -1

Also check out CS Lewis Doodle on youtube. Short enough so you don't have to read or listen to the whole book.

13
Food4thought 13 points ago +14 / -1

I like CS Lewis, but it didn't do enough for me. Still, I'm happy to stand with the Christians, we share the same moral values.

2
PatriotGeneral 2 points ago +2 / -0

This is true, but in the preface of the book he said it was specifically written to allow the reader to get an introduction, then leave them to do their own self discovery.

6
Zahala 6 points ago +8 / -2

Yep, it takes more faith to be an atheist than it does to realize there is a creator.

Q: How can you tell one is an atheist?

2

*shrug*

Maybe. But my own experience dictates that atheists are the only ones who aggressively try to shove it down people's throats most of the time. Aside from a certain other cult that likes to rape children and livestock.

They didn't bring silly string for fun it is for hurting people. it is a dangerous weapon, it burns like napalm and is on a list of banned stuff at protests.

38
DJexs 38 points ago +38 / -0

Silly string is incredibly flammable and considering the torches and throwing of molotovs a lawyer could easily make the case that its dangerous to cover someone with silly string under those circumstances.

I get the joke, I'm just saying, given the circumstances someone could get hurt.

5
Spicy_maymay 5 points ago +5 / -0

Yep I've seen a video a while back of a little girl's birthday party and after singing happy birthday she went to blow the candles and they silly stringed her right before. Her entire body was engulfed in flames in an instant and her hair was gone in moments.

The abortionist doctor acts like he's possessed by a demon. He's being confronted at his clinic by a christian who tells him he needs to repent for killing babies and the guy starts acting really strange and demonic. It's just weird.

That dude is awesome. He spends his whole time proclaiming the word. I thank him for what he does every time I come across him. Some of my coworkers would mock him. I would then say that dude has balls of steel would any of you stand on the street and yell what you believe day in and day out? They usually change the subject.

Drew 15 points ago +15 / -0

Something occurred to me. There has always been this debate about what separates us from animals. Opposable thumbs, tool use, higher thinking etc... And there are examples of all of this being disproven. But only people have been given the grace to want to talk to God, to pray. I pity the human who does not take advantage of the ability to talk to his or her creator.
