LESSON ONE ---> THE BASIC MEME

ALL RIGHT LADS, THIS IS IT!

YOU WILL BE USING PRIMARILY THE FOLLOWING:

imgur.com

imgflip.com

photopea.com

Now this may not be the prettiest way to make a meme, but any skill I teach you will GIT ER DUN, and can be improved on.

HERE WE GO!

Go to Imgflip.com. At the top of the page you will see a dropdown menu labelled CREATE.

From the dropdown menu, select CAPTION A MEME OR IMAGE

Sort of at the top of your new screen toward the right, there is a button that says UPLOAD YOUR OWN IMAGE. Click it.

Now you will see a small window with the choice to select UPLOAD IMAGE FROM YOUR DEVICE, or below it there is a field where you can enter in a URL.

For this exercise, we will be picking an image off the interwebs. Go to DDG and select an image you want to make a meme out of. Now copy that image address, and past it into the URL field.

Notice how it loads the photo into the popup window, with a moveable dotted frame around it. You can use that frame to crop your image before you load it. REMEMBER THIS because it comes in handy a lot more often than you might think. When you are done, hit UPLOAD at the bottom of the window.

BOOM! Your image is now loaded onto imgflip.

Next we are going to add some text.

If you hover over the image you loaded, you will notice two text boxes come alive, one at the top and one at the bottom. You can resize those boxes and move then around however you want. There is also a box at the center bottom of the text box that you can use to tip the text box and set it at a tilt.

To the right of your image, click on the field that says TOP TEXT, and type something in. Cool!

To the right of the text box you will see a white square and a black square. Those are the color selectors for the inner text on the left, and the outline on the right. Click on those and mess with the colors of your text. You will notice you can also make a custom color.

Now click the gear icon to the right of the black color square. You will see a window pop up with different options for changing the style of the text. You can change the fonts with the top dropdown window... and you can also change the thickness of the outline shadow, and a few other things.

All right, go ahead and do this and post your results. This is practice, so mess with stuff! Explore all the things you can do with the text boxes, and show us what you got! If you have questions, I will be checking in to help as I type out lesson 2

youre welcome! i try to gear this toward non-techies, because I think what stops people from learning how to meme is just being overwhelmed by all the different stuff you can do and the different ways you can do it, and not knowing where to start.

You will be meming by the end of the night!
