It is as if they have no self esteem because they have nothing to be proud of, no achievements, no nothing, so they double down in an attempt to fool themselves and the world that they have some kind of value.

But deep down they know: We need nothing from them. They need everything from us.

That's gotta hurt for a demographic so focused on ego, status, and signalling to others.
