I put more rounds of .44 MAG through a Ruger Superblackhawk than any other handgun that I've owned over the years. It's no 12"... but a 9 5/8" BAR is no short barrel. Wore out one gun (cut through the backstrap with escaping gases) and replaced it immediately. Hunted with it with holo site mounted with some success too.
Fantastic holster to-be-sure. Practice that Loooong draw... hehehe.
I went the opposite why and got the 4&3/4" super blackhawk. Super fun to shoot, I roll my own "keith loads" which are much stouter than typical factory .44 mag.
Yeah, I've been assembling cartridges for years too. While I mostly load cast wadcutters for paper plinking, I have loaded mostly using jacketed HC Sierra's for 180gr, and Hornady jacketed Hps for 220gr and for 245-300 cast/gas check. Powders... whatever is closest at the time... Blue Dot, Power Pro 300-MP, L'il Gun, IMR 4227, [H110, W296].
That’d make any of us the fastest draw in the West.

2400 is my favorite for .44 mag but i've also thought about trying out H110.
