And here I had just posted that I'd love to see Trump's rebuttal a few minutes ago in the other thread. Nice.

He would like to blame me and the Federal Government for going in, but he hasn’t seen anything yet.

Lord, please let this be the prelude to the invocation of the Insurrection Act and a proper crackdown on, at the bare minimum, Portland's Antifa.

I agreee.... they will be begging and thanking Trump for his help before Trump gives it. He will let them destroy themselves as long as they want. I can’t imagine all the lawsuits moderate and conservatives have against the city for allowing this shit to go on

Exactly. He keeps leading them along, like just a bit more destruction and watch me get all authoritarian - but he never does. So they just keep burying themselves deeper.

These are my thoughts, pretty much. There's a long-standing precedent of the federal government stepping in when local & state ones refuse to enforce law & order or straight up act against it - letting masked paramilitaries run rampant and kill your political opponents for you, obviously, falls firmly under the latter.

And just as the Dixiecrats of the 1950s and '60s aren't held in high regard for their actions today, neither will the Democrats of today who insist on letting their cities burn and their people be murdered in their streets for wrongthink generations from now.

Trump isn’t going to start the second civil war to protect Portland from purple haired freaks.

He shouldn't. They want to burn themselves, let them burn. All people who do not want to be torn apart by idiot commies should vacate the area.

What would they do? Call him a fascist? They already do that.

But it is what they want. They want a clash to blame on him. They'd call it Kent State 2. Or Q-State if it were citizens.

Let them try, if Trump were to play along with the media he'd already have been impeached twice over by now. Besides, I think the circumstances justifying a federal intervention won't get any better than it has at this stage in the game, certainly much better than if he'd dropped the hammer in mid-June. People are getting fed up with BLM/Antifa's antics, the riots are fast shredding Dem popularity (and the media knows it, see Don Lemon), Rittenhouse is actually being viewed positively by the mainstream from what I've seen, and now an utterly unjustifiable cold-blooded execution for political reasons has just happened, after all.

Right now, if POTUS invokes this ACT, Dems and MSM will accuse him of inciting more violence, even though the Act has been invoked MANY TIMES without such blowback in recent years:

I don't doubt they will try. But they (through Wheeler) have literally just done that anyway, despite him having done nothing, and I don't believe anyone who isn't a dyed-blue terminal TDS sufferer will buy it. I think, after 90+ days of rioting and now a political murder by the left, the public (which already increasingly severely disapproves of BLM and the associated unrest) will be vastly more understanding and prepared to brush past the MSM narrative than they would've been if Trump had cracked down a few months ago.

Besides, running on a law-and-order platform is great, but Trump needs to back the rhetoric up with firm action to show the voters that he 110% means business. And it doesn't get much firmer than sending in federal forces when the governor & mayor have both brazenly abdicated all responsibility to safeguard their citizens' lives and constitutional right to free speech + assembly for cheap points.

The "Radical Left Democrat Mayors" are not only unwilling to lead, but actively encouraging the violence.
