I've been refused entry to numerous restaurants burning bridges at some of my favorite places to dine. I've been harassed at different grocery stores by the people posted at the doors to politely ask if you need one and that there is a mandate. I asked them how does it feel to be a toothless guard dog yipping at peoples heels. I told them mandates aren't laws and the mayor isn't Caesar. I have refused to be bowed but I forgive you. Here in Texas the shop owners get fined a thousand bucks for each infraction. The shop owners.
So the shop owners actively enforce the rules and those of us who care about the shop owners -- we wear the masks out of respect.
More recently? Houston instituted a $250 fine for individuals. Not a mandate, a legal decree from a judge that we all must follow.
There are other hills to die on. Not this one. Not in Texas.
