It might be even more workable if we can get a mashup of the Bit Connect Guy, saying Piiiiinnnnnnooooooccchhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!
Yes, Nazi ideology maybe was a bit more nationalist vs the idea of international communism / Marxism but it's a distinction without a difference with regard to the core philosophies.
So we have two socialist systems with the end goal of a worker's/proletariat state. As the article points out, Hitler took issue with the paths of the likes of Lenin, rather than the end goal.
I fought this exact fight 25 years ago at college. My point was there is no way it would be acceptable to turn up to classes in a swastika t-shirt so why are all these fucks sitting around wearing the Hammer & Sickle and those fucking Red Army coats that where the fashion in the 90s?
He did it quickly and with the least amount of life taken. He killed enough commies to get the job done, and after he was sure that Chile was on the right path, he gave up power and retired. Normally commies kill their enemies and terrify the population into submission and only after a few generations, when everything has gone to shit, do the commies give up power, because all the commies just want to have stuff by that time (eastern Europe, Soviet Union. Still curious how China will turn out.
Did some searching and thought I would share. Thanks for the pointer pede!
He estimated that the navy conducted the flights every Wednesday for two years, 1977 and 1978, and that 1,500 to 2,000 people were killed.
"I am responsible for killing 30 people with my own hands," Mr. Scilingo said in an interview after his account was published.
"But I would be a hypocrite if I said that I am repentant for what I did. I don't repent because I am convinced that I was acting under orders and that we were fighting a war."
After discussing it with other pedes we have determined the C-5 Galaxy has in flight air drop capability so it would be the most efficient way to "relocate" communists to their new invisible islands out in the ocean. Then they can create the perfect communist society just like they always wanted.
The left has brainwashed so many into think a military coup is a bad thing...
The American Revolution was a coup of sorts....
Granted most Coups end in crap, but there are exceptions, and those are coups led by exceptional people, like George Washington who didn't want the power and only served two terms and just wanted to farm afterwards.
He wasn't wrong about Theresa though, she was an immoral person, who confessed to the pope she didn't even believe in god - but perpetuated faith based healing in their clinics in India, without medical intervention apart from basic pain killers.
Now to be fair, that was likely the best Theresa could do at the time but after she found international success, became a saint, and was essentially rich, she could have done a lot more to empower her community.
Also, she was against birth control -- One of Christopher's greatest contributions was the championing of the idea that reproductive rights leads to the improvement of the community as the community isn't dogged down under constant childbirth as they were in India under Catholicism an a general lack of contraception at the time.
Yeah Peters still around, and it's funny, he seemed to be at the other spectrum that his brother was in life, but it feels he's siding towards where Christopher was.
There were a few things I didn't agree with with Christopher though, he did seem to be a bit of a war hawk in the wrong, but as we're finding out, sometimes some wars need to be executed sooner rather than later.
I think the issue I have with Theresa is the personal crisis, while maintaining her public image of irreproachably, this is further compounded by the fact she was a international raiser of funds for the Catholic Church.
Secondly, it's nice to say it's nice to see she rejected scientific materialism, but she did this on the behalf of others, who were generally terminally ill.
There were a lot of critics of this, it wasn't just Hitchens:
Lastly, the rejection of scientific materialism sounds all good and nice when you dress it up as a pious act, but what about when viewed through the lens of hypocrisy?
These are just two examples of Mother Theresa receiving the best medical, drug and scientific care money could buy.
That's an issue for me.
Do I begrudge her wanting this for herself as she approached the end of her life? Not at all, I had a terminally ill father, I know the woes of a slow death on a person.
What I do begrudge is the slow, painful deaths full of woe and suffering she visited on children, women, men and the elderly in her clinics in India -- even more so when she had nearly all the money and power in the world, and in heaven to prevent the very suffering she perpetuated.
I can agree to disagree however about her :D
P.s., yeah Hitchens was a contrarian, I loved that about him, and its likely why he was such an accomplished writer and speaker because he would sometimes argue from uncomfortable positions that weren't his own but may have seen as valid at the time.
TIL from a relative who was in the city at the time: his motorcade was ambushed at a narrow pass by the Maipo river, very bad spot, but- bear with me- the Virgin Mary appeared, in or in front of the windshield, and said he would be kept safe. His driver put the car in reverse and somehow fifth-geared them impossibly out of there. I have read his autobiography and never knew this- because he never told anyone. The other survivors from the car did, because he would not. He didn't look for the job, didn't want it, and was the best man for it. Catholic pedes, join me in a Rosary this week for the memory of Pinochet, for our POTUS now, the good guys, and awakening more NPCs than ever before!
I know I am not the only one here to have grown up going to school and indoctrinated with the narrative that Joseph MCarthy was evil and Pinochet was evil. Who else can be named that we were brainwashed into believing were horrible but later we find were great men?
Those were just two examples. There must be dozens more anti-communist men and women we have been propagandized against.
Well it's time for my weekly "golly can we not glorify mass murderers" post so let's get this over with.
You all tell me how awesome Pinochet was, and I tell you that not only is it 'muh bad optics' for us to be sucking genocidal cock, and we're making the foremost internet resource for Trump appreciation synonymous with fascist dictator worship, but it's just wrong, and you call me a cuck and downvote me.
While I agree with the general sentiment that dictators should overall not be glorified, the smearing against Pinochet in the last decades is the product of leftist propaganda. If the media had put in half the effort they put into exposing Pinochet´s faults as they did for leftist dictators around the globe, communism and socialism would be just a popular as national socialism is nowadays.
He was by no means a saint and had people murdered because of their political affiliation, which imo is wrong regardless of the affiliation.
However, he was not a genocidal maniac as most portray him to be. He did not usurp power from a benevolent and prosperous democracy. He usurped power from a country that was in ruin and continued a downward spiral. Hyperinflation, rationing of basic products and food, etc.... I.e. classic socialism.
Was it legitimate that he took over power by use of force? No, probably not. But legitimacy, popular vote (which Allende only had 1/3rd of mind you, and other such values lose their importance really quick when you´re having trouble putting food on the table.
In either case, have an upvote because discourse is important.
I don't like him, and I the fact that this is an unpopular opinion is worrisome.
I hate communism because of the persecution and the fascism necessary to sustain it. I never minded 20 year olds who thought we should all share everything. I mind 26 year olds who want to try to force people to share. It is the force that is hateful.
Trying to turn Pinochet into a hero means embracing force so long as it is on "my" side, but my side is the side of freedom and therefore the anti-fascist side. I do not like fascism no matter whether it is Stalin or Hitler, antifa or blm or lgbt.
I hope my love for freedom does not eventually put me outside the right as it has put me definitively outside the left.
I was born in Chile, my dad, mom, sister lived through Allende's Chile. Pinochet is the best thing to have happened. He brought law and order to the country. We came here in 1980, the rest of my family stayed back, they prospered under Pinochet. The only ones that hated Pinochet were the commies that fled and those in jail. The communist almost destroyed the country. Commies were killing cops, soldiers, lighting things on fire... Antifa type stuff. Of course those that died were good, and didnt do nothin.
Heck no, the left was violent! The gov recovered stashes of weapons in hospitals and other places after Allende's fall, thousands of soviet rifles, Castro and Che went to chile to show us the revolution. the left was arming themselves to kill anyone that stood in their way and to kill anyone who tried to stop them from taking everything. Pinochet saved many many lives. HE IS A HERO! )
Similar to Franco, he may have been on the right side. His opponents may have been evil. But what is being celebrated here is not someone who made mistakes while fighting for right. His "mistakes" are what this site has started celebrating. I don't have a problem with fighting a war against evil. I object to kidnapping people in the middle of the night and then torturing and killing them and never telling their families what happened. And it makes me sad that this site is trying to be edgy by supporting it. One of the many things I like about Trump is that he does not do Obama style drone strikes. I like that he does not throw people out of helicopters.
Unless you've gone to bed hungry and crying, Unless you couldn't purchase anything because you didn't belong to the communist party, unless you've stood in line for 3 day waiting to enter a store only to have the person at the door tell you to "fuck off" and have the guards take a couple of swings at you, unless you've have your door kicked in and everyone thrown outside with rifles to your chest, and finally, unless you were able to purchase 4 chickens in 4 years, then you really can't question the methods. Pinochet is a hero and I will go to my grave preaching it!
No! You are doing the victim mentality thing. Suffering does not justify evil. It often creates evil but it does not justify it. How is what you are saying different from the blm looters getting their reparations?
You know what Pede... you do you. I'm a do me, Pinochet is a hero, you think otherwise, that's the beauty of the right... we can disagree and leave it at that. At the same time the left hates Pinochet, you think Pinochet would get good coverage or be made like Trump into a monster? A lot of things written about Pinochet have been written by communist.
You have no spine. You are going to be one of the reasons why the country goes to ruin because of your refusal to act.
This isn't a fucking fantasy where our side is going to win by offering flowers and food to the commies. The commies are gonna see that you let your guard down and will stab you.
You're not gonna avoid bloodshed. This is a civil war one step removed.
you live in a fantasy land. Pinochet spilled absolute MINIMUM blood. And what you call mistakes is literally what saved Chile and avoided rivers of blood.
The main reason the coup succeeded was that the commies wanted to disband the military, which had strong traditional prussian values and officers inter married creating strong political links. The Chilean military is like it's own political entity separate from their civilian gov. Allene's mistake was thinking he controlled them by "winning" the election and appointing Augusto as General of the Armed Forces. After the economy turned to shit after seizing the means of production, inviting Castro into Chile and creating a secret party police did Augusto make his move with support from the officers, the population and the CIA. I don't consider Augusto Pinochet a facist just because he held regular military parades. Dude took Milton Friedman's economic principles and made Chile a free market powerhouse at the time.
I agree all that is fine. But not the throwing people out of helicopters part which is what people here seem to particularly like. Pinochet might have been a necessary evil to defeat Allende but he was not a hero.
Bro, my family and myself lived in Romania during communism. I witnessed the revolution. Throwing them out of a helicopter is humane compared to living in their system. I feel nothing for them.
I definitely do not deny its necessity. I don't even think it is wrong per se. The man who defends his family whether in person or in the military is using violence well. But "disappearing" people who disagree and torturing people who disagree is not.
I agree, I don't think we need to go the Chile route, once you go military coup, it is hard to go back. I mean, they used WW2 German helmets and goose stepped. That not our style. Let's see if the election can solve this, we need to vote in overwhelming numbers.
It's no one's preferred solution. Pinochet is the last resort.Unfortunately, it seems we are here. And we don't even need a coup. Just invoke the fucking Insurrection Act. Sic FBI on ANTIFA and BLM. That's it.
They used German-style helmets because the army was modeled on Prussian military. Nothing to do with Nazis. They still use same uniform, marches, etc. today. Pinochet attended Yom Kippur celebrations every year at Santiago's synagogue. He never missed a year. I'm a Jew myself and I love Pinochet.
Antfia and BLM need to be dealt with within the current Constitutional framework, and that is possible if the Administration is willing to do that, which I believe will be the case after the election.
The driving force of German unification in the late 1800s was Prussia, Germany inherited those traditions. But that is not my point, as Americans we have our own traditions, and military intervention at the Federal level is not one of them. Once that happens, our Constitution is will be mortally damaged. Our first Republic will be over.
Civil War was a Federal military intervention, and it saved our nation. Don’t think we are quite there yet, and hopefully we don’t get there, but it’s not unprecedented.
Pinochet 2.0 for 2024!!!
A true visionary.

Very Meme-able! if you've got talent, and you're reading this, this job is for you.
His vision was to kill all the commies. I tend to agree kek
commies aren’t people
They're good when they're dead, though.
Good and dead is the only acceptable kind of communist.
The helicopter ride never ends.
"Do I look rattled?"
People really should hate communists just as much as nazis. Communism claimed several tens of times more innocent lives than the Nazis.
More than. Hate them more than the NAZIs
Arent the two very similar?
Both are based on Marxist philosophy, so yes
Where did you learn that German National Socialism was based on the writings of Marx? Ready for your citations.
This article does a decent job of laying it out.

WW2 was a socialist civil war until D Day
Grotesquely inaccurate.
Lol

Watched a pretty hard to find documentary on Pinochet, in Spanish w subtitles... Tells the truth and really laid wood to Allende...fuck commies
Most documentaries about him are by commies crying about how he put them down.
Can you spare a link for a fellow 'pede?
Got a link for that? Or a documentary title?
Perhaps a link you could share?

Genius right there. This should be the top comment.
Okay, that was funny as shit
Spanish speaking guy. He throw the commies out the helicopter....cause commies not people.
That seems a little sick to me but its an important task and I think you have the right mindset for it.
It's the only way I can survive reading Twitter.

I'm sad to say it, but Christopher Hitchen was wrong about Pinochet.
You've got to be wrong sometime I guess.

You are attributing Prussian military traditions to the Germans... Chilean Prussian traditon dates back to the late 1800s/early 1900s.
